Blue Boar |

The Blue Boar is a versatile kind of venue
- one which refuses to be categorised. It is a busy locals pub, a popular
sports bar (boasting a giant projector screen T.V.), a conservatory coffee
shop (the Garden Room serving Teas, Coffees & light bites) and the home of
Saddlers Restaurant with an A la Carte menu. "Every
village has a treasure - that's the quote on the front of the
Menus & Wine
List and it is particularly apt for this striking country inn. This
is one village pub and restaurant where attention to detail is paramount. If
you come expecting anything but excellence in a relaxed atmosphere, prepare
to be disappointed! The welcome is warm, the service friendly. The setting
is idyllic, overlooking the towns market square.

Off the Beaten Track |

Over the last 200 years the Inn has been known
in the local community as a place to eat and drink in style and comfort.
In the last year the new proprietors have worked to, and achieved,
further excellence through the refurbishment of the Barracuda Brasserie, the
Bar, the Herb Courtyard and the high standard of accommodation offered.
The design of the Barracuda Brasserie is in keeping with the
excellence of food offered. The Brasserie is decorated in soft blues and
relaxing shades; with leather sofas for pre or after dinner drinks.
The Bar offers a more relaxed atmosphere, serving traditional ales
and wines that cater to the most discerning of tastes. Served at the Bar is
also a selection of cocktails and sparkling wines. The bar menu provides
light lunches or simple snacks and is available all day.
The Herb Courtyard, so called due to the herbs growing around the
edge, is a light and airy room where both the bar and restaurant meals can
be enjoyed. The restaurant and the courtyard are both non-smoking
environments. Children are welcome, and all requirements such as high chairs
and a children's menu are available upon prior request.
In keeping with tradition a Sunday roast is available from Midday to
6 p.m., in The Bar, Restaurant or Courtyard. All
dietary requirements can be catered for, and menus can be devised solely to
suit an individuals needs with prior arrangement.
"If your taste is sophisticated, exciting foodie food and you refuse
to settle for anything less than the finest available, try a little trip to
Off The Beaten Track" Food and Drink Guide.

Red Lion |

Rebecca Ridgway (Bec) |

Rebecca Ridgway (Bec) welcomes customers
past, present and new to the Red Lion. An old fashioned 'locals' pub with
a pretty garden and serving excellent Hooky beer. Originally built as a
tap house the pub was first recorded back in 1686. Teams representing the
'Red' are entered in local leagues of crib, darts, dominoes and Aunt
Sally. Regular fund raisers in support of local charities include a weekly
bonus ball, meat raffle, Easter and Christmas raffles. There is also the
annual cricket competition and 24 hour darts marathon. New for 2005 will
be regular quiz nights in aid of Katherine House and Lawrence Home Nursing
Team There is however one cautionary note: the
Red Lion offers no juke box or fruit machines and video games. What the
the 'Red' does offer is great beers, great company and good old fashioned
pub banter !!

The Albion Tavern |
Burford Road |
OX7 5EF |

I n
1863, a local businessman, James 'Bony' Williams
started Chipping Norton's first public water supply on the site where the
Albion tavern now stands. What is now the beer
cellar was the original reservoir containing the water he sold. In 1873 a
license for the sale of beer was granted at 'The
Reservoir Tavern' Towards the end of the 19th
century, the 'Tavern' was acquired by the Hook Norton Brewery, who to this
day still sell their fine traditionally brewed ales to our discerning
customers. A conservatory has been very tastefully added, with a tiled
floor, wicker furniture, plants and burnt orange walls gives this a real
Mediterranean feel. For a more intimate meal the
neo-modern
Non
Smoking restaurant provides the discerning diner with the perfect venue to
enjoy either one of the traditional classics from the main menu or an
international special from the chalkboard. Superb
quality and great value, The Albion Tavern's menu's are home cooked using
fresh, local produce when available. Your hosts
Rowan and Amanda are experienced chefs, so a
beautifully cooked meal is assured, whoever is in the kitchen. You must try
Rowan's home-made steak and ale pies, which are a
local legend. Sunday Roast Dinners are not to be
missed and great value at just £6.95.Our large enclosed rear garden is a
safe ,secure area for our younger guests to play, while mums & dads enjoy a
drink or maybe something from
the delicious menu. The garden is also the
venue for our aunt sally team.

The Chequers |
Goddards Lane |
OX7 5NP |
|
644717 |
 The
Chequers is thought to date back to the late 1500's as a pub when it was
identified by a sign of a blue anchor outside. in February 1991
following extensive renovation Josh and Kay Reid who are both from
Lancashire, moved into the Chequers. The main bar
is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic
games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of
yesteryear is recalled. As a Fullers House and with Josh a fan of Fullers
beers, the Chiswick Bitter, London Pride and ESB are all served in perfect
condition. Other drinks include Heineken and Grolsch lagers, Strongbow cider
and draught Guiness.
Opened in August 1998, the
new restaurant area is the latest addition to the Chequers Pub. The old
courtyard has been covered over to create a pleasant, light and airy room
with the capacity to seat up to fifty people.
As well as being featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and Good Pub
Food Guide, the Chequers has also been a regular winner of the Fullers Pub
of the Year and even invited to be on the judging panel! Most recently, The
Chequers has become one of just 500 pubs, whittled down from 50,000
throughout the country to be awarded the prestigious Cask Marque for
outstanding cask beer quality.

T his
charming 300 year old coaching inn is, in fact, one of the newest additions
to the Arkell's stable. Not that you'd notice. Everything that's made The
Kings Arms such a popular pub since the 17th century are still obvious
today, namely: ideal location, friendly service, good food, well kept ales
and high quality accommodation. For travellers and
tourists taking in the delights of the Cotswolds, the fact that the
landlords, Viv and Avril, know more than their fair share about the area as
born-and-bred locals is yet another plus.
Currently offering 13 well appointed rooms, all of which are en-suite and
can be easily made into twin or double accommodation, the Kings is also
ideal for families, with 2 larger sized family rooms available.
Centrally
located, the Kings is perfectly placed for shoppers looking to take a break
from
Chipping
Norton's
busy high street, or for those planning a drink and a bite to eat before an
