LOCAL STUDIES

Chipping Norton Historical Research Group Jan Cliffe   641057

One of the newest groups in the town, the Historical Research Group was only founded in March 2002 following an adult education class in local history.  Their aim is to transcribe all the surviving probate documents (wills and inventories) for the Chipping Norton area in order to make them more accessible to local people. The transcripts will be deposited locally and it is intended to publish booklets and put on exhibitions about the history and families of the area. The initial research is on the period 1600-1650 and the transcriptions of a good number of documents have already been completed. If you have an interest in local or family history and would like to join the group in this exciting project, then please ring 641057 for further details.
Family History Group Peter Tyrell   641216

Interested in your family of years gone by then why not consider joining your local group who study world wide families in addition to our local area. We meet at The Ace Centre, Burford Road, Chipping Norton on the second Wednesday of each month at 7-30pm March until December.  Further information can be obtained from Peter W Tyrrell at GenStudies@aol.com or on Telephone: 01608-641216.
