ROB BOWS OUT - FOR THE MOMENT!!
Dear
Electors and Readers,
It has been a real privilege to serve you
as County Councillor for the last eight years [1997-2005] and an experience
I have also found hugely enjoyable. I am very grateful for the opportunity
you gave me to pursue and achieve a number of initiatives for the Chipping
Norton area, to represent you personally and also to play a county wide role
as Vice Chair of the Council, Chair of the Learning and Culture Scrutiny
Committee and Labour Group Deputy Leader over this period.
Defeat is never easy to bear but I remain
absolutely committed to the Labour and Co –operative values I have believed
in since I first came to the town in 1973 and which we know from our canvass
on your doorsteps this election are still firmly shared in this area. I will
remain actively involved in the town and its affairs as one of your
representatives on the Town Council and through my involvement in a number
of key organisations such as the ACE Centre, The Theatre, Youth Centre and
Chipping Norton School.
I am proud of the significant additional
funding and improved services that have occurred locally in all our schools
and in local public transport as a direct result of a Labour government and
I expect to see that investment to our public services increase further in
Labour’s third term. I am absolutely convinced that significant local
projects for which I personally worked over the past eight years can be
achieved in the short term for Chipping Norton, notably
- A brand new hospital staffed and managed
within the NHS together with a modern new older people’s home and other
joined up health facilities
- New jobs and employment after Parker
Knoll from OCC and government money through the new Town Partnership
- A brand new purpose built town library
as part of a new development on the ‘burgage plots’
- A reduction in HGV traffic and pollution
levels in the town
I wish my successor Hilary Hibbert-Biles
well and I hope the Conservative controlled new County Council will direct
Labour government funding and policies towards these much needed new
facilities in Chipping Norton.
With many thanks for your support and
encouragement over the past eight years.
Yours sincerely, Rob
Evans, County Councillor for Chipping Norton
Division 1997-2005. |
