TOWN COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2007

GRAHAM BIRKS

Dear Fellow Electors

I started and ran a successful printing business in Chippy for over 35 years which my son has now taken over. I have been involved in various town clubs
and organizations and have helped organize entertainments and social events at several pubs and hotels. Quiz Nights are a speciality. For many years I
ran the Christmas Club at the Fox. With more free time over recent years I have become deeply interested in local politics. I have regularly attended Council meetings and have been active on several issues - like objecting to the way the Town Partnership has been funded and organized. I contribute to the Forum on chippingnorton.net under the name Miskersation. Readers will know I am not  backward in putting my strong views forward,  What amazes me is the number of times I've seen Councillors toe the party line when they vote on a  motion - irrespective of their own  feelings on the subject or what is important for the town.  I believe the time  has come to elect a group of people onto the council who are more interested in the development of  the  town rather than the development of  their own political careers. That is why we have launched CHIPPY FIRST. I promise that if elected I will fight hard to ensure that the interests of the town are put above all other considerations.
