TOWN COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2007

HILARY WILLIAMS

Dear Fellow Electors

I moved to Chipping Norton with my husband in 2005, shortly after we were married. Having been given such a warm and friendly welcome into the town, I feel it is now my turn to give something back and I would look forward to working alongside my fellow councillors in preserving and enhancing the great spirit of Chipping Norton.

I have particular interest in helping to understand and meet the needs of younger people, not only by improving the services and facilities on offer to them, but also encouraging them to take a more pro-active
interest in local issues. It would be a great honour (and challenge!) to maintain, develop and enhance our community for the generations to come. At 26, I just about fit into the category of 'young person' and feel I
am in a very good position to represent not only the youth, but also my generation of working professionals in the area. I strongly believe in the importance of local representation and empowerment and hope that I
can bring a new perspective, backed up by personal experiences and community understanding, to the issues and challenges facing Chipping Norton.

Outside of local politics, I am an experienced marketer, having worked for Oxfordshire IT Security firm, Sophos for the past 6 years, specialising in communications and business strategy. As part of this role, I have worked very closely with small and growing businesses across the UK, developing marketing and business development plans. As a result I have a good understanding of the pressures faced by many small businesses, experiences which I hope I can also apply in supporting the local business community of this town. I am a keen cook and novice gardener. I also closely follow F1 racing
and enjoy music, comedy and the theatre.
